About Jim Holbeck

Educated in Gympie and Ipswich (Ipswich Grammar School) and later became an Industrial Chemist working for the Queensland Government. In sport played several seasons in A Grade  Rugby League for Booval Swifts and represented Ipswich (one of the 4 Qld provincial teams along with Brisbane, Toowoomba and Qld Country) in what was classified as an international match in defeating a New Zealand Maori Rugby League touring team.
Also represented the Royal Australian Navy in Rugby Union whilst in National Service in the Navy. Was the goal and line kicker for all those teams.
Served as an Anglican minister in Brisbane Diocese for 10 years at St Stephen’s Coorparoo and at St Bartholomew’s Mt Gravatt [whilst there becoming the first part-time chaplain to Griffith University in its inaugural year]. Then Dean of St Peter’s Anglican Cathedral in Armidale (Northern Tablelands, NSW)  for 10 years.
Last full-time position for 18 years before retirement was as an Assistant Minister to the Dean and the Leader of the Healing Ministry at St Andrew’s Cathedral Sydney (1988-2006). Was also in charge of the Healing Ministry Centre (Golden Grove) at Newtown which was a centre for teaching on Healing and also an accommodation centre for live-in Healing Ministry conferences.
Besides leading the weekly 6pm Wednesday night Healing Services in the Cathedral was also involved in the other Cathedral services over those 18 years. Has ministered in the Australian eastern states and in Western Australia, often conducting Healing Seminars for the Order of St Luke. Ministered in a tour of  both islands of New Zealand for a month for OSL in 1993 after being the main speaker at the OSL Triennial Conference in Napier NZ.
Has conducted month or longer Healing Missions in the Episcopal church in Central Florida on ten occasions between 1999 and 2012. Has also ministered in Wisconsin and at the Episcopal Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama.
Published two Amazon Kindle books in 2014. The first based on reflections on Psalm 139, and the second containing studies on the the Epistle to the Philippians. Details below
