I was asked to pray at our church today giving thanks for our experiences of God’s healing power and to pray for His healing to continue to be upon ourselves, our loved ones and our nation. This was basically the prayer I prayed. The people responded, “Amen!” Would you be prepared to add your “Amen” too?
“We thank You Lord that you have described Yourself to us in Your word. You have told us in Exodus 15:26 that Your name Jehovah (Yahweh) is ‘Rapha-el, I am the Lord who heals you.’
We thank You Lord that You have healed Your people throughout human history.
We thank You that when Jesus came, You worked through Him as Your servant to heal the sick and to set the captives free.
We thank You that You worked through the apostles and others to bring healing to those who needed Your healing touch.
We thank You for healing we have experienced personally in body, mind and spirit and for healing in our relationships.
We thank You for those You have healed in this city at services, at seminars and for those healed through ministry at Healing Rooms and other places.
Lord it amazes us that You are so loving and powerful in bringing answers to our prayers as we have prayed for healing for ourselves and others.
But we are challenged by this affirmation in Your word, that You are ‘able to do far more abundantly than all we can ask or think according to your power at work in us.’ (Ephesians 3:20).
Lord we have asked for great things and You have answered with great blessings. We have imagined You bringing wonderful healings and You have brought wonderful healings as we have prayed for them.
And yet You encourage us by saying that we cannot even begin to imagine what You are really able to do in answer to prayer.
Lord, we pray that You would work within us so that our faith may grow and grow and grow to be the size of a mustard seed so that we see mountains moved in answer to prayer. Mountains of ignorance and unbelief. Mountains of grief and sickness and sadness. Mountains of sin and evil. Mountains of hopelessness and depression. Mountains of cancer and other illnesses. Then people will begin to understand that You ARE ‘the Lord who heals.’
PRAYING FOR OUR NATION
We thank You too Lord that You have told us how to pray for healing for our nation. You have encouraged us with this promise, 2 Chronicles 7:14 ‘If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’
Lord touch us and all the people of this nation in the power of Your Holy Spirit so that we may indeed humble ourselves before You, confessing our sins so that we may receive Your forgiveness, guidance, healing and blessing. We pray that this wonderful land of Australia may be healed by You so that it may become (not just by name) but in reality, the ‘Great South-land of the Holy Spirit’. We ask these things in Jesus’ name. AMEN.”
