191. Q&A. Giving the right answers to questions! About Jesus!

Q&A (short for Question and Answer) has been around for a long time. Pontius Pilate, a Roman Procurator in the time of Jesus, featured in such a program. As he faced the Q&A audience he asked them a question, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” The audience answered, “Let him be crucified!” Matthew 27:22. Pilate in weakness succumbed. They crucified Jesus.

God Himself came up with a different answer to the question as to what to do with Jesus. St Paul describes His answer. “God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father,” Philippians 2:9-11. God exalted Him to be Lord over all.

Today we too can answer Pilate’s question regarding what to do with Jesus. But the real question is whether we answer it in Pilate’s way (chickening out) or in God’s way (investing in!)

The very , very scary thing is that it is a decision that only we can make for ourselves. No other person who has ever lived can make the decision for us. Not even the Lord God Almighty can make it for us. It is our decision alone. The consequences are eternal.  Rejection of Him in this life means rejection by Him in the life to come.

On the other hand the very, very exciting and exhilarating thing is this. Whoever answers the question correctly about what to do with Jesus, by believing in Him and accepting Him into one’s life, has acceptance by Him in this life and in the life to come. As Jesus promised, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”  John 5:24

Perhaps most of us will never become members of a Q&A live Television audience. But there is a live Q&A program going on in our own hearts and minds as the question keeps coming to us, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” What a confronting question! But what innumerable blessings there are for those who answer the question correctly!
